On the occasion of International Women's Day, a woman from Morigaon district, Assam, has taken a profound step in service to humanity by pledging to donate her organs after death.
Manisha Rajkumari, a resident of Manipur village, is a dedicated teacher at a private school and a committed social worker. Alongside fulfilling her professional and family responsibilities, she has actively contributed to society through blood donation, having donated blood 18 times, helping save numerous lives.
Manisha's motivation for blood donation stems from a personal childhood experience. When she was in Class 4, her mother suffered from a critical illness and required an urgent blood transfusion. However, finding donors proved to be a significant challenge. This incident left a deep impact on young Manisha, who then resolved to support those in medical emergencies whenever possible.
Staying true to her promise, she continued blood donation efforts even after marriage and became associated with "Team Humanity," a voluntary blood donation organization. Her dedication to the cause led her to take an even greater step on International Women’s Day 2024, by pledging to donate her organs posthumously, ensuring her legacy of saving lives continues beyond her lifetime.
Recognizing her selfless act, the Morigaon Health Department presented her with an organ donation pledge certificate, appreciating her humanitarian spirit and commitment to society.
Manisha Rajkumari’s journey from a blood donor to an organ donor stands as a testament to compassion and service, inspiring many to take similar steps in contributing to the welfare of humanity.
