Assam: Women protest at Batadrava police station over delay in arresting accused in theft case

A group of women staged a protest outside the Batadrava Police Station in Assam's Nagaon district, alleging police inaction over the failure to arrest the accused nearly 72 hours after the reported spray-theft incident at Narua Satra.

The demonstrators gathered in large numbers and raised slogans against the police, expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation. The protesters alleged that despite the passage of three days since the incident, no significant progress had been made in apprehending those responsible.

Local residents also claimed that multiple theft cases have been reported from different parts of the Batadrava Police Station jurisdiction in recent months. They alleged that police response in several of these cases has been inadequate, leading to growing concerns over law and order in the area.

The reported spray-theft incident at Naruwa Satra has triggered concern among residents, with many expressing apprehension over public safety.

The protesting women demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and sought stringent legal action against those involved. They also urged the police administration to strengthen policing measures and enhance security to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents.
