Assam's Abhayapuri police arrest man accused of physically assaulting 8-year-old girl; AMSU demands strict action

A man accused of physically assaulting an eight-year-old girl in Abhayapuri under Assam's Bongaigaon district has been arrested by police after allegedly fleeing following the incident.

The accused, identified as Maniruddin, was apprehended by Abhayapuri Police from outside the state and brought to Abhayapuri Police Station on June 20.

According to reports, the incident took place on June 14. Following the registration of a case, police launched an investigation and conducted a search operation that led to the arrest of the accused.

The incident has sparked concern in the area, with the All Minority Students' Union (AMSU) demanding strict legal action against the accused and urging authorities to ensure justice in the case.

Police said the accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.
