Assam's Chandubi Festival celebrating culture, biodiversity to culminate in Kamrup on January 5

The 15th edition of Assam's 5-day Chandubi Festival, which began in Kamrup district on January 1, will culminate today, January 5.
The festival, honouring the Chandubi Lake, annually welcomes thousands of tourists. The event celebrates the rich culture and diversity of the district, aiming to promote the biodiversity and environment.
Taking to their official X site, the Chief Minister's Office exalted the importance of the festival. They stated, "Where nature, culture and tradition unite in harmony - The Chandubi Festival. The Chandubi Festival, held annually, honours the serene Chandubi Lake and the breathtaking beauty of nature. It's more than a festival; it's a tribute to the traditions, heritage and spirit of the Assamese tribes, showcasing the timeless bond between humanity and nature."
Organised by Bichitra Rabha, the president of the committee opened the festival with a flag hoisting ceremony. The 2025 festival was inaugurated by Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council's Chief Executive Member, Tankeshwar Rabha and BJP leader Himanshu Shekhar Baishya.
During the event, the general secretary of the Nikhil Rabha Students’ Union also launched the book ‘Lakeya'.
