Assam's Diphu witnessed the 11th International Yoga Day being celebrated with fervor at 5:30 AM today at the Sarsing Teron Langkung Habe Multipurpose Sports Complex, uniting participants from various walks of life in alignment with celebrations across Assam.
The event was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), witnessing the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Chief Executive Member of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, MLAs Darsing Ronghang (Howraghat) and Bidya Sing Engleng (Diphu), Member of Autonomous Council (MACs), District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi, ACS, Superintendent of Police Sanjiv Saikia, APS and other officials.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from government officials, students, police and defense personnel, and the general public, reflecting a shared commitment to health and unity.
The programme commenced with a candle-lighting ceremony, followed by a live broadcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address from Visakhapatnam. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s message, participants engaged in a disciplined yoga session, performing various asanas and breathing exercises that emphasised health, harmony, and mindfulness.
In his address, CEM Tuliram Ronghang underscored the transformative power of yoga, stating, "Yoga enhances flexibility, reduces stress, builds immunity, improves focus, and contributes significantly to the holistic development of body and mind. It is not just a physical activity but a way to achieve inner peace and national well-being." He urged everyone to embrace yoga as a lifelong practice for a healthier, balanced lifestyle.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to winners of the district-level yoga competition held on June 18, 2025, recognising their talent and encouraging continued dedication to wellness.
