The 69th birth anniversary of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, a prominent leader in the Bodo community, was celebrated today, March 31, as 'students' day' in Dotma Thulungaphuri, Kokrajhar.
The UNB Trust, in association with All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), celebrated Students' Day at Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma's burial site in Dotma with a full-day programme.
The event was attended by Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary, BTC Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary and numerous other dignitaries.
The programme began with the hoisting of the flag by the president of ABSU, Dipen Boro. Following this, a floral tribute was offered to the statue of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma by State Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma.
Additionally, Dimasha Daibrang Muchahari, the principal of Kokrajhar Govt College, also paid his respects at Bodofa's grave, commemorating the legacy of the great leader.
In his address to the media, ABSU president Dipen Boro expressed the union's commitment to furthering the ideals and principles of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.
He emphasised that the Bodo community would continue to work in unity to establish Bodofa's vision on a global platform, ensuring that his dreams are realized. Boro also announced plans to erect statues of Bodofa in various countries, including America, London, and Japan, in the future, to honor his contributions on an international scale.
The event served as a reminder of Bodofa's lasting impact on the Bodo community and the ongoing efforts to preserve his legacy through education, unity, and cultural recognition.
