The Gwthar Bathou San, also known as the Sacred Bathou Day, was observed with great devotion and enthusiasm at the Bathou temple in Bagansali, Kokrajhar, and across various parts of Assam, on January 28.
The events commenced with the hoisting of the sacred flag, followed by traditional rituals, worship, and a collective prayer meeting conducted in adherence to the customs of the Bodo traditional Bathou religion. Devotees gathered in large numbers to pay homage to Bathou at the temple.
It is worth mentioning that the Bodo community has been celebrating Sacred Bathou Day and performing Bathou Puja on the second Tuesday of the Assamese month of Magh every year.
On this auspicious occasion, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BTR Chief Pramod Boro extended their heartfelt greetings to the people through social media, wishing them peace and prosperity.
The occasion holds great cultural and religious significance for the community, symbolising their faith and heritage.
