Margherita's political and cultural community gathered at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan on October 19 to observe a month-long memorial for singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away last month (September 19).
Three local units of the Bharatiya Janata Party—the Block Mandal, Sadar Mandal, and Town Mandal—came together to organise the remembrance event that drew hundreds of party workers and supporters.
Local MLA Bhaskar Sharma inaugurated the morning ceremony by lighting ceremonial lamps as attendees paid floral tributes to the departed musician.
Sukhdev Sharma from the Town Mandal, Naba Dutta from the Block Mandal, and Suman Khalen from the Sadar Mandal led the gathering in remembering Garg's contribution to Assamese music.
The tribute took an emotional turn when participants sang "Mayabini Geet," one of the artist's most recognized compositions, in unison. The ceremony concluded with a prayer session dedicated to Garg's memory.
The event reflects the deep cultural impact Garg had on communities across Assam, where his music remains widely celebrated even after his death.
