The BJP has claimed a major organisational boost in Samaguri constituency ahead of the Nagaon by-election, with around 10,000 workers and supporters of the Congress and AIUDF reportedly joining the party at a large-scale programme in Rupohihat.
The joining programme was organised by the Garajan Mandal BJP in Rupohihat. Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika, Barchamphur MLA Jitu Goswami and MLA Pradyut Bordoloi were present at the event.
According to the BJP, the workers and supporters joined the party under the leadership of Osman Ali and Malek Master, formally accepting the BJP’s lotus flag.
BJP leaders claimed that the large-scale induction has further strengthened the party’s organisational position in Samaguri as the by-election approaches.
Addressing the gathering, Jitu Goswami claimed that the entry of such a large number of opposition workers into the BJP has strengthened the party’s prospects and asserted that the BJP candidate’s victory in the Samaguri by-election is now certain.
The claims regarding the number of people who joined and the BJP’s electoral prospects were made by party leaders and have not been independently verified.
