A wave of optimism and celebrations gripped Congress ranks in Baksa district following the appointment of Gaurav Gogoi as the new President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).
Reacting to the development, Baksa District Congress Committee (DCC) President Buddhadev Phadangari lauded the Congress high command’s decision and expressed strong confidence in Gogoi’s leadership.
“With Gaurav Gogoi at the helm, we are filled with double the enthusiasm to move forward. His dynamic approach will inspire us to work harder for the people of Assam,” Phadangari said.
He further projected that Gogoi’s leadership will be a game-changer for the party in the 2025 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections and the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly polls.
Taking a sharp dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Phadangari claimed that Gogoi’s growing influence has rattled the saffron party.
“The BJP is clearly afraid of Gaurav Gogoi’s rising popularity. They are resorting to spreading lies and false propaganda,” he remarked.
He specifically criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for calling Gogoi “blue-blooded,” stating:
“The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect his insecurity. BJP has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of the Congress Party.”
Phadangari also claimed that the people of Assam are now aware of the “exploitation and loot under BJP’s rule.”
“The public has seen through the BJP’s misgovernance. We are confident that in 2026, Congress will return to power in Assam under the leadership of Gaurav Gogoi,” he concluded.
