Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Hemanga Thakuria launched a scathing critique against Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in response to his recent remarks questioning the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and administrative neutrality.
Addressing media representatives, Thakuria stated, “Rahul Gandhi should understand that the people of this country continue to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The issue is not limited to Maharashtra alone — wherever elections are being conducted, the BJP is securing victories.”
Referring to the recent Lok Sabha election results in Maharashtra, Thakuria emphasized that the outcome demonstrates the public’s trust in PM Modi’s leadership. “The entire result in Maharashtra has favoured the BJP, which clearly indicates public satisfaction with the Prime Minister’s governance,” he added.
Thakuria further accused Gandhi of frequently casting doubts on democratic processes without substantial basis. “He often claims that something is wrong with the EVMs or alleges that the administrative machinery is aligned with the BJP,” Thakuria said.
In response to such claims, the BJP legislator pointed out the Congress’ victories in Karnataka and Telangana, asserting that these results contradict the narrative of manipulated EVMs. “If Congress could form governments in these states, how can the integrity of the EVMs be questioned only when the BJP wins?” he asked.
Concluding his remarks, Thakuria attributed the Congress party’s declining fortunes to its leadership’s inability to accept electoral realities. “Rahul Gandhi must acknowledge the truth. The Congress party is collapsing because it refuses to come to terms with facts,” he stated.
