Bongaigaon Police detain 12 in overnight crackdown against fraudsters

Bongaigaon Police detained 12 people during an overnight crackdown against suspected fraudsters, cheats and touts as part of a wider statewide operation by the Assam Police.
The raids were conducted across different police station areas in Bongaigaon district, with police detaining people allegedly involved in cheating members of the public.
Of the 12 detainees, two were picked up by Bongaigaon Sadar Police, two by Abhayapuri Police, five by Jogighopa Police and three by Mererchar Police. No detention was reported from Manikpur Police Station.
Police said the individuals were allegedly involved in fraud and cheating in their respective areas.
The operation in Bongaigaon was carried out alongside raids across several districts of Assam, during which more than 300 suspected fraudsters, cheats and touts were detained, according to police.
The statewide crackdown is aimed at dismantling networks allegedly involved in defrauding members of the public through different means.
Bongaigaon Police are currently questioning the detained individuals as part of the ongoing investigation.
