Hagrama Mohilary on February 20 launched a series of major infrastructure projects in Kokrajhar district, Assam, aimed at strengthening healthcare, higher education and digital infrastructure in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Marking a significant push to healthcare services, Mohilary laid the foundation stone for a 50-bedded Critical Care Hospital Block (CCB) at Kokrajhar Medical College & Hospital under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM). A ceremonial Bhumi Pujan was performed in the presence of Derhasaat Basumatary, Executive Member (Health & Family Welfare), BTC, and other dignitaries.
The project, estimated at Rs. 23.75 crore, is slated for completion within 18 months. The proposed G+3 building will be equipped with essential service facilities, including fire-fighting and fire alarm systems, aimed at ensuring enhanced patient safety and operational efficiency.
The BTC Chief also inaugurated the newly constructed Maternity and Child Health Wing at the medical college hospital, which is expected to become operational within the next 15 days. He reviewed the infrastructure and facilities at the new wing during a visit to the site.
Later, Mohilary performed Bhumi Pujan for the construction of the administrative building of Kokrajhar University at Harinaguri. The project is being undertaken under TNEIF on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Mode-I basis (Package No. II), as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s infrastructure following its elevation as a university. Several public representatives and university officials, including the Vice Chancellor, were present at the programme.
In another initiative, the BTC Chief laid the foundation stone for a Digital Studio at Haloadal village in Kokrajhar district, to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 crore. The proposed facility is envisioned as a state-of-the-art centre for filmmaking, digital content creation and creative industries, with provisions for movie shooting, set design, animation, audio recording and VFX production.
Officials said the project is expected to boost skill development and create employment opportunities for local youth, positioning Kokrajhar as a regional hub for digital media and creative arts in the BTR and Assam.
