Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary has ordered the closure of four cattle markets in Kokrajhar district following allegations of a cattle syndicate operating after the markets were reopened by the BTC government.
The BTC administration has issued closure notices for the cattle markets at Bhaoraguri, Haraphuta, Debitola and Jaraguri, acting on Mohilary’s directions.
Mohilary has also warned that strict action would be taken if any MLA or Executive Member of the BTC is found involved in the alleged cattle syndicate.
The move comes amid allegations of syndicate activities following the reopening of cattle markets under the BTC administration. The council has taken immediate action by ordering the closure of the four markets.
The BTC administration’s decision is aimed at addressing the allegations, with Mohilary warning that no public representative would be spared if found involved in the alleged activities.
