Burglars strike Assam's Kokrajhar Railway quarters, Rs 4 lakh worth of property looted

A burglary was reported at the Railway Department residential quarters in Kokrajhar during the early hours of July 19, adding to the growing concern over a series of theft incidents in the town.
According to reports, the theft took place at the DS-4 Railway quarters, the residence of Kokrajhar Railway Station Master Chandan Kumar. His wife, Suman Kumari, told the media that the burglars entered the house at around 4:30 am by opening a sliding window and unlocking the main door.
The family members were asleep at the time of the incident and came to know about the theft only after waking up in the morning and searching for their mobile phones.
The burglars allegedly stole two mobile phones, cash, and gold and silver jewellery, including a gold mangalsutra, payal and rings. The total value of the stolen property is estimated to be around Rs 4 lakh.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Residents have expressed concern over the increasing number of theft cases in Kokrajhar, with similar burglaries having been reported recently from areas such as Shanti Nagar and Subhashpalli.
