Captain Jintu Gogoi Vir Chakra Football Tournament trophy reaches Assam's Digboi ahead of 21st edition

The Indian Army on Saturday, January 31, brought the trophy of the prestigious Captain Jintu Gogoi Vir Chakra Football Tournament to Oil Valley School in Digboi, marking the build-up to the 21st edition of the tournament scheduled to begin on February 4.
The 21st Captain Jintu Gogoi Vir Chakra Football Tournament will be held from February 4 to February 14 across three venues—Nehru Stadium in Duliajan, Jubilee Ground in Digboi, and Tingrai Football Stadium—bringing together teams and football enthusiasts from across the region.
The trophy arrival ceremony at Oil Valley School was attended by Colonel Shivek Sharma, Commanding Officer of the Digboi Battalion, who was present as the chief guest. The event witnessed participation from school authorities, students, and Army officials, reflecting the tournament’s deep connection with both the armed forces and the local community.
Chairman of Oil Valley School, Trilok Gupta, along with teachers, staff members, and students, welcomed the Army officials during the programme.
As part of the ceremony, students of Oil Valley School presented a march past, patriotic songs, cultural dances, and traditional performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere and paying tribute to the legacy of Captain Jintu Gogoi, a Vir Chakra awardee. The performances were warmly received by the guests present at the event.
