‘CJP is a political party’: Hagrama Mohilary recalls quitting engineering for agitation

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary drew attention with his reaction to the mention of the ‘Cockroach Party’, laughing before describing it as a political party.

Mohilary made the remarks while attending the Bijni Youth Festival 2026 as the chief guest at the Bijni District Sports Association ground in Chirang district on October 14.

During the interaction, Mohilary also recalled his early days, saying he, too, had once wanted to take part in an agitation. He said he left his engineering studies after just two days because he wanted to join the movement.

“I also wanted to take part in an agitation. I left engineering after studying for just two days to join the agitation,” Mohilary said.

The remarks came during the third day of the four-day youth festival, organised by the Bijni district unit of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF).
