Reacting to reports that former Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member and UPPL leader Pramod Boro is being considered for the Rajya Sabha, BPF leader and BTR chief Hagrama Mohilary on Wednesday, March 4, said that in the larger interest of the party, other leaders could also have been given the opportunity instead of recommending oneself for the Upper House.
Speaking at a cheque distribution programme under the BTC government’s ‘Five Guarantee Scheme’ in Kokrajhar district today, Mohilary said that if party interests were truly prioritised, alternative leadership choices were available. He further asserted that whether their three MLAs vote in favour of Boro or not “makes no difference."
Mohilary also suggested that the situation might have unfolded differently had Boro shown “a little respect” towards their MLAs.
Mohilary weighed in on the escalating tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States, describing the situation as war-like and expressing concern over global instability.
