In a coordinated joint operation, Gauripur Police and the 48th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) apprehended a suspected smuggler and seized a large quantity of counterfeit gold near the Gauripur railway station on Thursday.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of fake gold, security personnel launched a targeted operation in the vicinity of the station. The team successfully intercepted the suspect and recovered 675 grams of spurious gold from his possession.
The arrested individual has been identified as Naser Ali, a resident of the Dangirchar area. He was taken into custody and immediately transferred to the local police station for further legal formalities.
Police officials confirmed that Ali is being interrogated to uncover the wider smuggling network, identify the source of the counterfeit gold, and trace its intended distribution chain. Authorities said the operation reflects the sustained efforts of local law enforcement agencies and the CRPF to combat the circulation of counterfeit and illegally traded goods in the region.
