A district task force constituted under the direction of the District Commissioner carried out a market inspection drive at Borobazar in Bongaigaon on Friday, May 22, to monitor the prices of essential commodities amid rising concerns over inflation.
The special task force was formed to keep a check on price rise and ensure market regulation in the district.
The team, comprising officials from the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Fisheries Department and Bongaigaon Municipal Board, visited several shops in the market and reviewed the prices of various commodities.
During the inspection, officials found that several shops were not displaying price lists. The shopkeepers concerned were directed to prominently display the rates of commodities for consumers.
Officials of the task force said similar inspection drives would continue in the coming days to ensure transparency in the market and prevent overpricing of essential goods.
