Dog allegedly beaten to death in broad daylight at Assam's Mankachar market, two held

A disturbing incident involving the alleged killing of a dog has surfaced from Kuchnimara Bazar in Mankachar, with visuals of the incident reportedly going viral on social media.
According to allegations, the incident took place on August 21, when a dog was allegedly tied with a rope and brutally beaten in broad daylight at the market. The animal was allegedly beaten repeatedly until it died.
Following the incident, Mankachar Police registered a case under Case No. 180/2026 and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Police have also detained two persons in connection with the alleged killing. They have been identified as Ningjeng Marak, son of Nengian Sangma, and Jacky Ch. Marak, son of Gonjak Marak.
According to available information, both individuals are residents of South West Garo Hills in Meghalaya.
The alleged incident has triggered concern after the visuals surfaced online, with the police investigation now underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the dog's death and the involvement of those detained.
