A bizarre and disturbing incident has come to light from Assam’s Silchar, where a drunk man was caught on camera harassing a woman inside an auto-rickshaw in the Tarapur area.
Sanchari Bhattacharjee, a teacher by profession, recorded the entire incident on her phone. According to her, the man allegedly attempted to inappropriately touch her fellow female passenger during the ride.
The two women had boarded the auto from Tarapur's India Club point en route to Ramnagar, where Sanchari's school is located. Initially, the ride was uneventful — until a visibly drunk man entered the vehicle. Although he tried to sit beside the women, the auto driver, sensing danger, insisted he take the front seat instead.
However, that didn't stop the man. Taking advantage of the shaky, broken road, he leaned back and allegedly tried to touch the female passenger sitting behind him. Before either woman could react, the man got down and fled the scene.
The entire incident, captured by Sanchari, is now going viral on social media — triggering widespread outrage and raising serious concerns about women’s safety in cities like Silchar, even in broad daylight.
