Eid celebrations turn violent in Assam's Chirang, 2 hospitalised after assault

What began as a festive evening of Eid celebrations turned violent in Satipur village of Chirang district, as two individuals sustained serious injuries in an alleged assault involving an intoxicated youth.

 

The victims, identified as Sahjahan Ali and Mohidul Ali, are currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bongaigaon district. According to initial reports, the altercation began when the duo attempted to restrain an allegedly intoxicated individual, resulting in a heated confrontation that escalated into physical violence.

 

Sahjahan Ali reportedly suffered a severe head injury, while Mohidul Ali sustained a fractured nose during the attack.

 

Law enforcement officials from Kajalgaon Police Station promptly visited the hospital following the incident and have launched an investigation. The police are probing the circumstances leading up to the altercation and are recording witness statements.

 

Preliminary accounts suggest that the assault was allegedly orchestrated by two individuals named Billal and Kesu. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by the victims at Kajalgaon Police Station, and further legal proceedings are underway.

 

Police officials have assured that appropriate action will be taken upon completion of the investigation.
