Supporters of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg worked through the night to replace dozens of film posters that were torn down by vandals in Kokrajhar town, whilst local police launched an investigation into the incident.
Members of the Kokrajhar District Zubeen Fans Club restored approximately 50 posters promoting the upcoming film "Roi Roi Binale" across the town after discovering the damage on Wednesday night, October 29. The posters, which had been displayed on walls at Courtpara, were completely destroyed by unidentified individuals.
The targeted wall lies within the premises of the State Bank of India branch, an area covered by CCTV cameras. Police arrived at the scene following reports from fans and have begun examining footage to identify those responsible.
Local supporters have called for swift action against the perpetrators, expressing frustration over what they describe as a deliberate attack on promotional materials for a film significant to Assamese cinema.
This marks the second such incident in Kokrajhar in recent days. Just weeks earlier, vandals defaced a mural of Zubeen Garg located near Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station, prompting similar outrage from his admirers.
The film "Roi Roi Binale" features the popular singer-actor and has generated considerable anticipation amongst audiences in Assam. No arrests have been made in connection with either incident, though investigations continue.
