A fire broke out at an Aadhaar enrolment centre located inside the Morigaon Revenue Circle Officer’s office in Assam around 3 am on October 19, destroying the equipment and materials kept at the facility.
Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and brought the blaze under control. However, the fire caused extensive damage to the centre, including machines used for Aadhaar enrolment and other materials.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. A preliminary suspicion points to a possible electrical short circuit, though the cause has not been officially confirmed.
The incident has raised concerns among residents in the area over the damage to the facility and the potential disruption of Aadhaar enrolment services.
