Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday, October 21, extended Vijayadashami greetings and said that the festival symbolises the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness, asserting that forces working against the country were being subdued.
In a post on X, Sarma linked the occasion to what he described as the triumph of Sanatan culture and righteousness over evil.
“You all are seeing how, with the arrival of Vijay Dashami, the demonic forces that were plotting conspiracies against the country have fallen silent. This is our eternal Sanatan culture, this is the victory of righteousness over unrighteousness,” he wrote.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, the Chief Minister said Vijayadashami marked the victory of Shakti over evil forces and expressed confidence that good would continue to triumph over evil in keeping with tradition.
“Today is the day of Shakti's victory over evil forces. As you have seen, closer to Vijaya Dashami, evil forces which were active are now being subdued. We will always see the good triumph over the evil. It will continue as per our parampara (tradition),” Sarma said.
