Former BSF personnel arrested in Assam’s Moran for allegedly sending obscene messages to five minors

A former Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was arrested in Assam’s Moran after the families of five minor boys accused him of allegedly sending obscene and objectionable messages to them, police said.

The accused has been identified as Nabajit Handique, 45, of Tilaibari Nepali Gaon. According to the complaint, the boys are students of Classes 7 and 8.

The families alleged that Handique had been luring the minors to his house over the past two to three months by offering them iPhones and other gifts. He also allegedly sent obscene and objectionable messages to their mobile phones.

The alleged activities came to light recently, following which the families of the five minors approached Moran Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Based on the complaint, Moran Police registered case No. 69/26 and arrested Sandikoi under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident has caused concern in the area, with the families of the minors demanding strict action against the accused.

The allegations are under investigation.
