Retired IAS officer Hitesh Dev Sarma appeared before the Pathsala Police Station on Tuesday, November 25 in connection with allegations that he issued death threats over phone to journalist Rana Deka and the reporter’s eight-year-old child.
According to police sources, officers had visited Sarma’s residence on November 23 and served him an official summons directing him to report to the station for questioning. Complying with the notice, Sharma arrived at the police station today.
As he walked in, Sarma faced a barrage of questions from journalists regarding the alleged threats. However, he chose to remain completely silent, refusing to comment on the accusations levelled against him.
Senior officers at Pathsala Police Station have begun an intensive interrogation, examining the details of the complaint and the purported phone call during which the threats were made. Further investigative steps are expected to follow.
