Four police personnel were among six people injured after an escort vehicle in the convoy of Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal was involved in a road accident in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on January 4.
Police said the accident occurred near Hatiali under Chabua police station limits when one of the escort vehicles in the carcade collided with a civilian vehicle.
Dibrugarh senior superintendent of police Gaurav Abhijit Dilip confirmed that all six injured were taken to the hospital in an ambulance accompanying the convoy.
Doctors at Assam Medical College and Hospital said the injured were stable and out of danger.
Sonowal was travelling to his native village, Bindhakata in Chabua at the time of the accident. Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli was also part of the convoy. Both parliamentarians escaped unhurt and continued their journey, officials said.
