Tensions flared in Assam’s Finguwa area following allegations of an attempted sexual assault on two girl students inside a tuition centre. The incident reportedly took place at the Navanur Talent Academy when the teacher was absent, and two youths allegedly targeted the victims inside the classroom.
The accused are alleged to be from the local community, and their actions have triggered widespread anger among residents. On Wednesday, September 17 evening, large crowds gathered in front of the Balapara Police Outpost, staging protests and demanding swift action against the culprits. Villagers reportedly gave police a three-hour ultimatum for the arrests.
The attempted assault has caused unrest across the locality, with many parents voicing fears over the safety of students attending private tuition centres. Additional security measures have been put in place as the situation remains tense, and police have increased surveillance to prevent any further escalation.
