Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has cautioned the Assam government against allegedly using the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to “harass innocent people” in connection with the Zubeen Garg death case.
Speaking to reporters, Gogoi said, “I am warning the Assam government not to target innocent people through the SIT. More than 30 days have passed, and we still don’t know how Zubeen Garg died.”
He accused the state administration of diverting the probe away from the truth and using the investigation to “intimidate activists and critics” of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Gogoi added, “Instead of finding the truth, the SIT is being used to harass activists and critics of the CM. After five months, their party will be out of power.”
The remarks come amid ongoing public pressure on the government to ensure a transparent and credible investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, which has stirred deep emotion across Assam.
