Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, on March 11 said the opposition led by Gaurav Gogoi would face a decisive defeat in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in Assam.
Extending his “best wishes” to Gogoi and his team, Momin said the opposition candidates would lose in every constituency they contest. He specifically claimed that Gogoi would suffer a heavy defeat if he contests from Jorhat.
The BJP leader further asserted that the 2026 Assembly polls would produce a historic outcome, predicting that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party would register a record-breaking victory in the state.
Momin said the election results would demonstrate the continued public support for the ruling alliance and its governance in Assam. The 2026 Assembly election is expected to witness a keen contest between the BJP-led alliance and the opposition parties led by the Indian National Congress.
