Grandfather, 3-year-old granddaughter killed in road accident in Assam

Two people, including a three-year-old girl, were killed and two others critically injured after an autorickshaw and a school van collided head-on at Dhala Pakoi Bil on the Silchar-Aizawl National Highway in Assam’s Cachar district on August 17.

The deceased have been identified as Babul Uddin and his three-year-old granddaughter, Suhana Akhtar.

According to reports, the four-member family, residents of Panchayat Road in Silchar, was travelling towards Dhala in an autorickshaw when the vehicle collided with a school van in the Pakoi Bil area.

Uddin and Suhana died at the scene. Suhana’s mother and maternal uncle, who were also travelling in the autorickshaw, sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Police reached the spot after being alerted and recovered the bodies before sending them for further procedures. The two injured persons were rescued and taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment in critical condition.

The accident has left the family and residents of the area in mourning.
