Guwahati police arrest PLA militant linked to Manipur insurgent operations

A member of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA), wanted for multiple insurgent operations in Manipur, was arrested by Guwahati police on April 19.

The arrest was carried out by the Basistha police with support from Gajraj Intelligence. The suspect, identified as Mayanglambam Bobby Singh of Kakching district, was found hiding in a hotel in Paltan Bazar. Authorities believe he had been staying at another hotel in Beharbari in the days leading up to the operation.

According to DCP East Mrinal Deka, who briefed the media on April 20, 31-year-old Singh was actively involved in a series of armed activities in Manipur. He is currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation.

Officials have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as the investigation continues.
