Assam politician Pradyut Bordoloi expressed optimism and enthusiasm after participating in his first major rally alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Guwahati, claiming overwhelming public support for the BJP.
Speaking to India Today NE, Bordoloi said he was “feeling great,” pointing to the large turnout at the rally. “It seems like half of Guwahati has converged on the streets. People have come out spontaneously to participate and express their solidarity with the BJP,” he said, adding that the enthusiasm and visible energy among the crowd reflected strong backing for the party.
Reflecting on his political journey, Bordoloi—who has experience in both the Congress and the BJP—highlighted what he described as a key difference between the two parties. He praised the Bharatiya Janata Party for its organisational strength, calling it “superb” and “well entrenched.”
“As a new candidate, I had gaps in my understanding of the constituency, but the BJP family guided me at every step. They helped me navigate challenges seamlessly. It’s really amazing,” he said.
On whether voters would accept him, Bordoloi said the public response so far has been encouraging. “You can see the enthusiasm, the smiles, the way people come out of their homes, take selfies—it’s overwhelming. Having been in electoral politics for a long time, I can sense the mood,” he added.
His remarks come amid intensified campaigning ahead of the Assam Assembly elections, with major leaders and candidates actively reaching out to voters across the state.
