A flood-like situation has emerged in Bokoliaghat following incessant heavy rainfall since Sunday, August 9 morning, with several areas under the Bokoliaghat Town Committee inundated and normal life disrupted.
Continuous rainfall has led to water accumulating across several villages within the town committee area. Roads at multiple locations have also been submerged or waterlogged, causing difficulties for commuters and affecting movement in the area.
Bokoliaghat Town Committee Chairman Hemsing Teron visited several flood-affected areas to assess the situation and interacted with local residents to understand the problems caused by the inundation.
Teron said the affected areas were being inspected following instructions from Madhuram Lekthe, Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
The chairman said measures would be initiated at the earliest to improve the drainage system in Bokoliaghat. The proposed measures are aimed at addressing the area's persistent waterlogging problem and providing a long-term solution to recurring inundation.
Residents have been facing repeated difficulties due to waterlogging during periods of heavy rainfall, making improvement of the drainage network a key concern in the area.
