Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the pressing issue of land encroachment affecting the Satra lands and stated the government’s proactive measures to protect these historically and culturally significant areas.
Sarma said that the Satra lands, crucial for Assam’s cultural heritage are facing increasing encroachment issues. He criticized previous administrations for failing to safeguard these lands, which has led to their current vulnerability. “If the previous government had protected these lands, they would have remained safe. Unfortunately, negligence has led to the problems we face today,” Sarma said.
Over the past nine years, under the BJP-led government, significant efforts have been made to assist the Satras. The administration has provided substantial financial support to these institutions, aiming to improve their conditions and secure their lands from encroachers. “Our focus is on health, education, and infrastructure development,” Sarma added. “Improving the living conditions of the poor and ensuring the protection of our cultural heritage are our continuous responsibilities.”
Sarma urged the people of Assam to continue their support for the Satras stating the need for collective effort in maintaining and enhancing their welfare.
