Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the upgradation project at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport to enhance passenger experience and streamline travel.
The expansion and modernization project introduces several key upgrades:
Expanded Front Platform: Increased from 270 sq. m. to 1000 sq. m., along with 900 sq. m. of additional footpaths for smoother pedestrian movement.
Enhanced Traffic Flow: Entry lanes expanded from 8 to 14, while departure lanes increased from 3 to 4 to reduce congestion. Additionally, 4 new DigiYatra gates have been installed to facilitate faster check-ins.

Improved Security Check-In: The security screening area has been enlarged from 300 sq. m. to 450 sq. m., with added screening queues and upgraded furniture for enhanced efficiency.
Aesthetic Enhancements: A 140-meter architectural wall has been constructed, along with 300 sq. m. of new gardens, improving the airport’s visual appeal.
Upgraded Passenger Amenities: The airport now features enhanced retail, food, and recreational facilities, ensuring a more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience.
The upgradation at Assam’s busiest airport aims to accommodate increasing passenger traffic while aligning with the latest aviation standards, offering travellers a seamless and modern airport experience.
