Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma voiced concern over the preservation of Punjab's rich heritage and urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann not to compromise on its legacy.
"Punjab's heritage is world-famous. I implore Bhagwant Mann not to compromise with this esteemed legacy," stated Sarma, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the historical significance of the region. He urged Mann to draw inspiration from the resilience of Punjab's people and leaders throughout history, noting their steadfastness even in the face of challenges.
Expressing apprehension over recent developments, Sarma cautioned against what he perceives as a diminishing image of Punjab. "Today, a message is resonating across the country that Punjab is not solely governed by Bhagwant Mann, but by Raghav Chadha," Sarma said.
Furthermore, Sarma highlighted the pressing need to address critical issues plaguing Punjab, including drug trafficking, crime, and economic stagnation. He urged Mann to prioritize the revival of Punjab's economy and focus on infrastructural development within the state, rather than diverting attention elsewhere.
"While providing free electricity is commendable, it is equally imperative to bolster infrastructure and stimulate economic growth," Sarma said calling for a concerted effort to harness the blessings bestowed upon Punjab for its advancement.
Highlighting Punjab's illustrious history and the contributions of luminaries such as Bhagat Singh and Sikh Gurus, Sarma urged Mann to uphold their legacy and work towards the state's development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
