In response to allegations made by Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah regarding the assets of his family, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma defended his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma and said that her actions and assets are devoted to the people of Assam.
During a media interaction, Sarma said that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma has dedicated her resources for the benefit of the state. "Whatever Riniki Bhuyan Sarma is doing, she is giving and will continue to give all to the people of Assam. Nobody will take it. She will not keep anything for herself or our children," Sarma declared, adding that even assets like News Live, a news channel owned by the family, would eventually be handed over to the people.
Sarma further addressed specific concerns raised about land holdings and business ventures. He noted that the land in Ganeshguri, previously highlighted by critics, has been transformed into a Sai Baba Mandir, while plans are underway to build a Shivji Mandir on their Zoo Road property. "Even the resorts and all are for the people of Assam. Riniki is not keeping anything for herself," he reiterated.
Dismissing accusations against his wife, Sarma said that profits from their businesses are reinvested into projects benefiting the community. He urged the public to view these assets as belonging to the state, highlighting that even News Live is meant for the employees who run it.
