Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called on students across the state to equip themselves with emerging technologies to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving job market. Speaking at Foundation Day celebrations of B Borooah College in Guwahati, Sarma said that there is a need for students to become familiar with cutting-edge tools such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Robotic Process Automation, 3D printing, and Gene editing.
"Barriers between different subjects will cease to exist in the next 25 years. I want all students from Assam to familiarise themselves with these new-age technologies," Sarma said.
The Chief Minister also spoke about India’s potential to become the next hub for semiconductor manufacturing, which he said would create "unprecedented opportunities for our youth." He urged students to prepare themselves with the skills required for Industry 4.0, which is poised to transform sectors like manufacturing and finance.
Highlighting India’s financial growth, Sarma said, "India’s financial markets are among the largest globally, and GIFT City is a novel effort to position India as a global financial hub, opening new career opportunities for students."
