Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on October 12 met the parents of Himashree Boro and assured them that the state government would pursue the case until all facts surrounding her death are brought to light.
In a post on X, Sarma expressed condolences to the bereaved family, saying no parent should have to endure the loss of a child.
“There are no words that can ease the grief Himashree Boro's parents are carrying today. No parent should ever have to endure such a loss, and my heart goes out to them and to her entire family,” the Chief Minister wrote.
Sarma said he met the family to share their grief and personally assured them that the state would pursue the matter until every fact was established.
He added that the Assam government was coordinating closely with the Andhra Pradesh government and the Ministry of Railways to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
“Himashree's family deserves answers, and they will get them,” Sarma said.
The Chief Minister’s assurance comes amid demands for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Himashree Boro’s death in connection with her travel to Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The case has also triggered concerns over the safety of women passengers and accountability in the railway system.
