Diphu Lok Sabha MP Amarsing Tisso has raised concerns over the condition of government schools in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district after inspecting several educational institutions in the Singhasan Council constituency and flagging deficiencies in infrastructure and basic facilities.
Tisso, who recently undertook inspections of government schools in the district, questioned the availability of essential facilities for students and teachers, including adequate infrastructure, attendance, toilets, drinking water and mid-day meals.
During his latest inspection, the MP expressed concern over the overall condition of the schools and said that deficiencies were visible even in institutions located along major roads.
“If the condition of schools located along the roads is so poor, what would be the situation of schools in remote areas?” Tisso said.
The inspections have brought renewed attention to the condition of government school infrastructure in Karbi Anglong, particularly in areas where access to basic educational facilities remains a concern.
The MP’s observations have also prompted questions about the implementation of basic infrastructure and welfare measures in government schools, including the availability and maintenance of classrooms, sanitation facilities, drinking water and mid-day meals, as well as regular attendance of teachers and students.
While the inspections covered schools in the Singhasan Council constituency, the concerns raised by the MP have also drawn attention to the need for a broader assessment of government schools across Karbi Anglong.
The condition of the schools inspected by Tisso is expected to intensify scrutiny of educational infrastructure in the district and the delivery of basic facilities to students, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
A comprehensive assessment of school infrastructure, attendance and basic amenities would be required to establish the extent of the deficiencies across the district.
