While the nation marked its 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour, the Assam Rifles stationed at Jairampur celebrated the occasion in a distinctive manner by hosting the event at the India–Myanmar border.
The celebration not only honoured India’s freedom but also showcased a symbolic gesture of brotherhood between the two neighbouring countries.
As part of the event, youth from Jagun on the Assam–Arunachal Pradesh border and from parts of Arunachal Pradesh took part in a special bike rally organised under the supervision of the Indian Army. The rally concluded at Pangchau Pass on the India–Myanmar border, where the Tricolour was ceremonially hoisted.
The rally, formally inaugurated by Laisam Simai, MLA of the 51st Legislative Assembly Constituency in Arunachal Pradesh, saw the participation of more than fifty youths from both states along with a contingent of army personnel. The flag-hoisting ceremony was attended by locals from the neighbouring country, who were greeted and extended best wishes by the Indian Army.
The celebration at Pangchau Pass served as a reminder of the unity and shared goodwill that transcends borders, even as India reaffirmed its commitment to sovereignty and harmony on this historic day.
