Jewellery worth Rs 4 crore looted from showroom in Assam’s Barpeta Road

Jewellery worth approximately Rs 4 crore was looted from a showroom in Barpeta Road Town in a daring robbery carried out in broad daylight on February 20.

According to police sources, a five-member gang entered the Senco Gold & Diamonds showroom, located in the heart of the town, posing as customers. The accused were reportedly armed with pistols and held 9–10 employees at gunpoint.

The robbers allegedly threatened the staff with dire consequences and carried out the loot for nearly half an hour. They are also said to have assaulted some employees and damaged the CCTV cameras before fleeing the scene with gold and diamond ornaments.

The showroom is situated in a busy commercial area and is barely 100 metres from the Barpeta Road Police Station.

Police reached the spot soon after being alerted and have launched an investigation.
