The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KA-DCC), on August 10, held a high-level one-day convention at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Diphu, bringing together all Block and Mandal Presidents along with senior office bearers. The meeting, which commenced at 11 am, was squarely aimed at reinforcing the party’s grassroots network in preparation for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
The convention was headlined by Manoj Chauhan, Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and Co-Incharge of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), who attended as the chief guest. Senior APCC leaders including General Secretary and KA-DCC In-Charge Bitupon Saikia, General Secretary Ashok Teron, Secretaries Pallav Chetia, Purnima Ronghangpi and Supratim Kor were present. The gathering also saw the participation of former MLA Jagat Sing Engti, former KAAC Deputy Chairman Mahesh Kumar Chauhan, and KA-DCC President Raton Engti.
In his address, Manoj Chauhan launched a scathing attack on the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), accusing it of large-scale corruption under Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang. He also alleged similar irregularities in the Assam government led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. Highlighting the recent Special Inclusive Revision (SIR) process undertaken in Bihar, Chauhan stressed its strategic value for strengthening the Congress’s organizational readiness in Assam.
Party leaders used the platform to chalk out a district-wide action plan focused on mobilizing local leadership, boosting voter outreach, and building a unified, disciplined structure ahead of the elections. The KA-DCC resolved to intensify its engagement at the grassroots level, projecting itself as a viable alternative to the current political leadership in Karbi Anglong.
The meeting ended with a call for unity, resilience, and proactive campaigning to reclaim public trust and position the Congress party for a strong showing in the 2026 polls.
