Karbi Anglong celebrates Dr. Habbe Teron’s nomination as Assam Deputy Speaker candidate

A wave of celebration swept across Karbi Anglong after BJP MLA Dr. Habbe Teron was nominated as the NDA candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Speaking at a joining programme in Diphu on June 18, Tuliram Ronghang described the nomination as a historic milestone for the Karbi community and a moment of immense pride for the region.
Ronghang said that, for the first time in history, a representative from the Karbi tribe is poised to occupy the prestigious post of Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly. He termed the development a significant achievement in the political empowerment of indigenous communities in the state.
Expressing gratitude, Ronghang thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for backing Dr. Teron’s candidature.
According to Ronghang, the nomination reflects the government's commitment to inclusiveness and its trust in tribal leadership. He added that the move marks an important step towards greater representation of indigenous communities in key constitutional positions.
“The nomination of Dr. Habbe Teron as the NDA candidate for Deputy Speaker is a matter of great happiness and pride for us. For the first time in history, a Karbi MLA is set to hold this prestigious position. It reflects the government's trust and commitment towards tribal communities,” Ronghang said.
