In a heart-wrenching incident that shook Silchar's Tarapur Shivbari, Biprojyoti Kar, a final-year MBBS student at Silchar Medical College, tragically took his own life late Tuesday, September 3 night. The promising young student was discovered hanging in a room at his residence, leaving behind a suicide note that painfully conveyed his struggle with depression.
The note, found near his lifeless body, read, "Maa forgive me, I am going alone leaving you. I can't bear depression anymore." This heartbreaking message underscores the intense emotional turmoil Biprojyoti endured in silence.
Biprojyoti chose to end his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan, a decision made just hours before he was scheduled to travel to Bangalore by train. Around 9 PM, he informed his mother that he would be stepping out briefly. Instead, he locked himself in another room within the house, where he ultimately took his own life.
Concerned by the prolonged silence, Biprojyoti’s mother sought help from neighbors after noticing the closed door. Upon forcing it open, they were met with the devastating sight of his body hanging from the ceiling fan.
The suicide note also explicitly stated, "No one is responsible for my suicide," emphasizing that his decision was solely due to his battle with depression.
Cachar Police quickly arrived at the scene, retrieving the body and transferring it to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for a postmortem examination. The tragic loss of such a bright student has cast a pall of grief over the Shivbari area, leaving the community grappling with the profound question of what drove Biprojyoti to such a desperate act despite his promising future.
