Man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting minor daughter in Dhubri

Police have arrested a man in Assam’s Dhubri district on charges of sexually assaulting his teenage daughter, officials said on January 15.

The accused, identified as Ratan Roy, a resident of Shukati Khata village under Gauripur police station, was taken into custody late on Wednesday following a complaint lodged in connection with the alleged assault of his minor daughter.

Police said the accused is currently being held at the Gauripur Police Station, and a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law. 

Officers from the Daobhangi police outpost are assisting in the investigation, including the collection of evidence and recording of statements.

The incident has triggered strong reactions in the locality, with residents expressing shock and demanding strict legal action against the accused. 

Police officials have assured that the investigation is being conducted in a time-bound and sensitive manner to ensure justice for the survivor.
