Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday responded to allegations made by former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP tribal leader Babulal Marandi, who claimed that a conspiracy was hatched to implicate Sarma during the Jharkhand Assembly elections.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Marandi alleged that a senior police officer attempted to frame Sarma by sending an individual to Delhi and Guwahati with money to execute the plan.
Taking to X, Marandi wrote a post in Hindi which when translated read, "During the Jharkhand Assembly elections, which senior police officer from Jharkhand gave money—twice—to someone to send them to Delhi and Guwahati (Assam) in an attempt to frame Assam Chief Minister Shri @Himantabiswa through a conspiracy? This will soon be revealed along with proof.
Chief Minister @HemantSorenJMM, were these disgraceful acts happening with your knowledge or without it? You should clarify this.
Hemant ji, don’t you think that an officer who, out of greed for position and money, dares to carry out such vile acts and conspiracies against a highly respected individual in a top position in the country, could also commit the same filthy and shameful acts against you in times of trouble for his own benefit?
By the way, let me tell you that at one time these same people had taken charge of preparing detailed dossiers on your activities, collecting more than a hundred complaints—signed by various people, both in real names and under aliases—and sending them against you to different places.
It would be better for you to use your own agencies to thoroughly investigate this matter. And if there is still a lack of information, you may personally contact me and see all these details with your own eyes. Perhaps after seeing all this, your eyes will open, and you will have no difficulty in identifying the snakes hidden in your own sleeves"
Responding to the claim, Sarma recounted a past incident. “During the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly elections, two women were sent to my office. After I discovered their motives, I became suspicious and alert,” the Chief Minister said.
Sarma added that he had come across Marandi’s remarks earlier in the day and intended to speak with him about the matter. “I don’t think it’s a personal issue; it may be a political conspiracy against the BJP,” he stated.
